Dr. Talena Atfield named CRC in Tentewatenikonhra'khánion (We Will Put Our Minds Together)
The Government of Canada has just announced that Dr. Talena Atfield has been named a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Tentewatenikonhra'khánion (We Will Put Our Minds Together). Dr. Atfield is of Kanien'kehá:ka of the Grand River and mixed settler backgrounds and is an assistant professor in the Department of History.
A lifetime of thoughtful giving: Bob Ewen (BA, ’71)
When Bob Ewen passed away last November, Waterloo lost one of its greatest and kindest champions. The philosophy grad who made his name as a high-level banker leaves a long legacy of thoughtful giving, personal involvement with students, and enduring love for Waterloo.
Arts featured in 2024 Global Futures
The University of Waterloo’s annual publication, Global Futures, was recently released with a packed launch event at Fed Hall featuring Faculty of Arts professors Dr. Bessma Momani and Dr. Marcel O’Gorman as speakers. The Global Futures publication itself features four Arts scholarship stories.

The 2024 Silversides guest speaker, Samer Al- Saber, is an artist/scholar and Assistant Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies at Stanford University. His work concerns identity, race, and ethnicity at the intersection of Islam and the arts.
Feryn Karahkwiiohhstha King: Hoop Dance Performance and Workshop
Please join us for a hoop dance performance and workshop with Feryn King on Wednesday, March 20. Feryn King is an Indigenous (Mohawk) artist, professional international hoop dancer, and member of the Wolf Clan in Akwesasne, Quebec.
