The St. Jerome’s University Library has a strong collection of books, government reports, and other kinds of materials on law and criminology, with some materials on the history of law found nowhere else.
You’ll be taught by professors who are actively engaged in research in their fields, including program director Fred Desroches, a sociologist who has published two books on crime: Force and Fear: Robbery in Canada, and Behind the Bars: Experiences in Crime. His current research deals with organized crime and drug dealing in Canada.
Frances E. Chapman completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology with an option in Legal Studies and Criminology. She graduated with her Bachelor of Laws degree in 2002. Frances has a broad range of experience in all types of civil and commercial litigation. She practiced for almost two years in real property disputes, mortgage actions, wrongful dismissal, class actions, and gained experience in criminal law. She then completed her Master of Laws degree at the University of Western Ontario while teaching part-time. She then moved to Toronto Ontario to complete her Ph.D. in law at the acclaimed Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
