Volunteer for Arts

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! We recruit volunteers each term (fall, winter, spring) to assist with different programs and events within the Faculty of Arts.

Volunteer ambassadors are an extremely valuable resource for our faculty and its goals and overall mission. We wouldn't be able to do it without you!

Outreach activities

The following is a list of the outreach opportunities that we recruit volunteers for:

Student Recruitment Strategy Group - Fall, Winter, Spring
We want to hear what you have to say! Provide feedback on publications, web pages, academics, new initiatives, etc. Help us do a better job in recruiting and servicing current students. Communication through email and/or group discussions as required.

Electronic Outreach Initiatives - Fall, Winter, Spring
Want to tell your Arts story to prospective students? We're looking for enthusiastic students to share their experiences through online blogs, videos, and profiles. If you have a cool story to share, we want to hear it, and so do our future students.

High School Outreach - Fall & Winter term
Heading back home for a visit? Why not return to your old high school, meet up with your former teachers, and share your Arts experience with current high school students. We'll assist you in proving all the materials you'll need, but you get to tell your story.

Early Offer Calling Campaign - March, April & May
The Dean of Arts asks volunteers to help welcome newly admitted students by calling to congratulate them of their early offer and to answer any questions they might have.

Events

The following is a list of events that we recruit volunteers for:

Fall Open House - November
The Fall Open House provides prospective students and applicants with the opportunity to learn more about our programs, attend Arts presentations, ask questions at our Faculty booth, speak to academic advisors, take a tour, and much more! Be part of the Arts team to answer questions, or join other Arts students in creating an exciting and welcoming environment for our guests.

GOLD Leadership Conference - November
The Gaining Opportunities in Leadership Development (GOLD) Conference is an opportunity for grade 11 students to come to the University of Waterloo and experience workshops related to leadership, peer-to-peer training and learn what it takes to be a leader and make a difference.

March Break Open House - March
This large scale open house is specifically organized for applicants. The day includes an Arts welcome session, program sessions, department sessions and booths, general questions, and a pizza lunch.

Arts Tour Guide - March & May
Arts student volunteers provide a Faculty specific tour for prospective students who are deciding on Waterloo as a school, answer student life questions, and talk about your Waterloo experience.

You @ Waterloo Day - May
You @ Waterloo Day is a special visit day for students who have received an Offer of Admission to Waterloo. This provides the students with an opportunity to speak with academic advisors, ask questions at our Faculty booth, or take one of the many tours available.
