Arts alumni among Top 40 Under 40
13 Waterloo alumni named to local top 40 under 40 list
Thirteen University of Waterloo alumni have been named to the Region's Top 40 under 40 list for 2012. The award recognizes young leaders who are making an impact within the community. Jason Coolman, director of Alumni Affairs, says the recipients "know how to take ideas and make them work to build a better future, for Waterloo Region and beyond."

To celebrate this monumental acheivement in each of their lives, the Arts recipients were invited out to a celebratory lunch with the Dean of Arts, Doug Peers, and with other key faculty members. Five out the eight Arts recipients were in presence and shared their inspiring stories over lunch. The group is pictured above.
The list of Arts alumni recipients includes:
Renjie Butalid (BA '10, Economics/Political Science), Co-Founder of Ignite Waterloo, one of the lead organizers for TEDxWaterloo 2010, co-founder of Laurel Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, teaching assistant for the Global Conversation.
Stephanie Ellens-Clark (BA '05, Social Development Studies; BSW, Social Work ‘06), Public health planner for Region of Waterloo Public health, Chair of the Strategic Development Committee and the Souper Sampler Committee, vice-president of the community support connections’ board of directors, volunteer with several YMCA programs.
Justin Heimpel (BA '97, English), Lawyer with Sorbara, Schumacher, McCann LLP (SorbaraLaw) Partner at SorbaraLaw, serves as chair on the board of directors for Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region and the board of directors for KidsAbility School Authority Board, volunteer and contributor for various organizations..
Tim Rollins (BA '96, Chartered Accountancy Studies, HCO ’96 MACC Accounting ‘96), Senior director, taxation for Research in Motion. Past board treasurer and active board committee member of St. Mary’s General Hospital board of trustees, volunteer coach with Woolwich Minor Hockey Association.
Ingrid Schiller (BA '97, German Studies), Director of Charities at Formulating Change, extensive volunteering and fundraising experience at organizations throughout the region including Nutrition for Learning, KidsLINK and the Supportive Housing of Waterloo committee.
Anne Wilson (PhD '00, Psychology), Associate professor and a Canada Research chair at Wilfrid Laurier University. Globally respected leader in her research in social psychology, recipient of more than $1 milion in funding, teacher and mentor of young women in helping them to see past gender stereotypes, and an active volunteer in the community.
Jessica Del Rosso (2nd year student, Social Development Studies), Helped launch and co-chairs the youth advisory board of Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region, peer mentor team leader, active, presenter and speaker about youth in foster care.
Russell Wong (BA '02, English), Undergraduate marketing and recruitment co-ordinator, University of Waterloo’s faculty of engineering. Chair of Engage!, Food Bank volunteer, sits on a number of committees around the city, recipient of the 2010 Nelson Jarvis Award for his volunteer contributions.
