CAN JEWS AND CHRISTIANS BE FRIENDS?
Lessons from Mendelssohn and Lessing
In an age when true Jewish Christian friendship was rare, the
dedicated eighteenth century relationship between Moses
Mendelssohn and Gotthold Ephraim Lessing stands out, although not without its religious tension.
Edward Breuer received his PhD from Harvard University and
currently teaches at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He
will explore this particular friendship and its challenges, as
a model for Jewish/Christian relationships today.
Free and open to all.
