Call for nominations for Valedictorians for the 2012 Spring Convocation

The Faculty of Arts will be selecting two Valedictorians - one for each of the Arts
Convocation ceremonies being held on June 14, 2012.

Each Valedictorian is expected to speak for a maximum of five minutes and the address should be appropriate to the dignity of the occasion. Nominations may be made by any member of the October 2011 or June 2012 graduating class in the Faculty of Arts and must have the signed agreement of the nominee.

Nominate someone you admire:

• well rounded;
• academically successful;
• represents the Faculty as a whole.

Nominees will be asked to present their valedictory address before a selection committee on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in AL 116.

Download the nomination form for pick-up a form from any Faculty of Arts department office or the Arts Undergraduate Office, PAS 2439, or the Arts Student Union, AL 120. 

Nominations must be delivered or mailed to: Danielle Jeanneault, Arts Undergraduate Office, PAS 2439. Deadline for the submission of applications is Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

Call for applications to serve on the Valedictorian Selection Committee

Members of the 2012 graduating class are invited to apply to sit on the Faculty of Arts Valedictorian Selection Committee.

We need two to five members of the graduating class to participate in selecting this year’s Arts valedictorians – one for each of the two Arts convocation ceremonies being held on June 14, 2012.

Selection of the valedictorians occurs at a "Talk-Off" where the nominees present their valedictory speech to the committee.

You are eligible to apply for this committee if you:

• are a member of the 2012 graduating class, i.e., graduated in October 2011 or plan to graduate in June 2012;
• have not nominated a student for valedictorian;
• do not currently hold an executive position on the Arts Student Union.

The selection committee meets on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in AL 116. with the "Talk-Off" commencing at 5:00 p.m.
