Arts research thrives
Waterloo Arts is home to a thriving research culture in the humanities, social sciences, and creative arts. Whether examining the multi-faceted forces of globalization, exploring new approaches to inter-cultural dialogue, or pushing the frontiers of digital media production, Arts researchers at Waterloo are contributing their insights, creativity, and commitment to some of the most pressing issues of our time.
Outstanding achievements
In its 2010 university rankings, Maclean’s placed Waterloo #1 among Canadian comprehensive universities for success in securing SSHRC research grants. Waterloo Arts researchers also receive funding from the other major federal granting agencies (CIHR, NSERC, and CFI), as well as from provincial, foundation, and private-sector grants and contracts. Outstanding achievements in Arts have been recognized with major academic awards and honours, including the Killam Prize, Molson Prize, Trudeau Foundation Fellowships, and memberships in the Royal Society of Canada.
