Research Goals and Values

The Anxiety Studies Division operates under the principles of integrity and respect for the dignity of the individual.

Our goal is to advance our understanding of the development and persistence of anxiety problems and improve the treatment of anxiety problems.

All of the research we conduct in the Anxiety Studies Division of UW’s Centre for Mental Health Research is conducted in strict adherence to the research standards as outlined by:

• the University of Waterloo Office of Research Ethics
• the Canadian Psychological Association Code of Ethics

Who funds our research?

Past and current funding bodies include: the Ontario Mental Health Foundation , the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada , the Canada Foundation for Innovation Leader’s Opportunity Fund, and the Ontario Research Fund for Research Infrastructure.

What comes of our research?

We share our findings with researchers and health care professionals at major conferences on psychology and mental health, through published research papers and books, through workshops, and with the graduate students in our program. Sometimes we are interviewed about our research by the local and national media.
