Travel

Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Waterloo are located in the twin cities of Kitchener-Waterloo, in southwestern Ontario, about 90 minutes drive west of Toronto or three hours east of Windsor-Detroit.

Air Travel

The nearest airport is the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF). Starting May 12 (just in time for CANHEIT), WestJet Airlines will start daily service from Calgary to YKF. Promotional fares are applicable for Saturday travel.

Northwest Airlines offers three flights daily from YKF to their hub at the Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).

A taxi to/from Region of Waterloo International Airport from/to the WLU King Street residence will cost you about $30 one way.

Other air travel to Kitchener-Waterloo is supported primarily by Pearson International Airport in Toronto (YYZ). Travel from the airport to Kitchener-Waterloo is via rental car, limousine service or Airways Transit.

Driving Directions

  • From east or west, follow highway 401 to exit 278, highway 8 West.
  • Follow 8 West to 7 East (an expressway called the Conestoga Parkway). Be sure to take the exit for 7 East, not 7 West.
  • Continue on 7 East (keep left) as it becomes 85 North.
  • Exit at University Avenue West and drive about 3 km.

  • Day Parking is free in white lots 3A and 32.
  • Park in lots 4 or 20 for $5.00/day.
